Ecoadventure Tour

7 Days / 6 Nights Sports and Nature Throughout Costa Rica

  • Arrival to San José.

Destinations: Sarapiquí area, Braulio Carrillo National Park, Sarapiquí River, Arenal town and National Park, thermal waters, Cloud forest of Ecolodge, Monteverde Private reserve, Northern Pacific Region of Guanacaste and Ocotal beach.

Brief description of tour: The Ecoadventure Tour is the most natural way to experience the beauty of Costa Rica while actively participating in some wonderful soft adventure sports. We will visit wilderness areas at the same time as we enjoy various sports and Ecoadventures, all in full contact with nature. This recreational and educational journey will submerge you into the great diversity of natural activities available in Costa Rica, making the wildlife observation an album of experiences not soon to be forgotten. We will use a series of modest and cozy lodges across the country. They reflect the costarican charm for what "Ticos" are worldwide known for.


Day 1

Welcome to San José. After greeting you at the Juan Santa María International Airport, which services San José, or at your hotel in San José, we will start off immediately on this exciting Ecoadventure and head to Sarapiquí through the Braulio Carrillo National Park. Continuing our trip, our naturalist guide will give you a full briefing of all you will see in the days to come. Overnight at La Quinta de Sarapiquí Lodge.

  • White Water Rafting in Sarapiquí river and Biking.

Day 2

White Water Rafting in Sarapiquí river and Biking. After breakfast we will head to the Sarapiquí river for a wonderful class III White Water Rafting trip. A total of eleven kilometers will be the length of our water adventure. The main feature of the Sarapiquí River is its crystalline waters, in which you can enjoy a landscape full of life and fun. We will have lunch in a local restaurant and afterwards we will begin a tour along a professional exportation pineapple farm and processing plant, where you will enjoy the beautiful landscapes.   • Arenal Volcano and Thermal Waters.

Day 3

Arenal Volcano and Thermal Waters. We will have breakfast and spend part of the morning enjoying the hotel facilities before heading to San Carlos. We will have lunch in a typical restaurant on the way and after that go to Tabacon Hot Springs. While the Arenal Volcano looms imposingly on the horizon, you can enjoy Nature's natural hot tubs. Water heated by the nearby volcanic activity, issues from the earth at more than 150 degrees Farhenheit and flows down through exotic tropical gardens cooling down to bearable tempertures forming cascades and pools.   • Horseback ride and Arenal Canopy Tour.

Day 4

Horseback ride and Arenal Canopy Tour. After breakfast we will start the day with the Arenal Canopy Tour, beginning the adventure with a horseback ride for around 40 minutes and a short walk through the primary forest. We will have lunch and in the afternoon we will enjoy a hike through the Rain Forest Reserve of the Arenal Vista Lodge to explore its flora and fauna. Overnight at Arenal Vista Lodge. (B,L)

  • Arrival to Ocotal Beach Resort.

Day 5

After lunch at the hotel we will be on our way to the North Pacific Region of Guanacaste. We will arrive at Ocotal Beach Resort just before dark so we will have a chance to enjoy the beach and hotel facilities. Overnight at Ocotal Beach Resort. (B,L)

  • Explore the underwater wonderland.

Day 6

Snorkeling at Bahía Culebra. After breakfast we will go snorkeling to Bahía Culebra. For more than two hours we will explore the underwater wonderland that lies beneath the ocean. Lunch will be held in a local restaurant. The afternoon will be at leisure to enjoy the beach and hotel facilities. Overnight at Ocotal Hotel.(B,L)

  • Transfer Out.

Day 7

Transfer Out. Today, after breakfast, we will continue to the airport for your departing flight or to San Jose if you are staying longer in Costa Rica. Once at the airport or back at your San Jose Hotel, we will say "see you again soon", proud to have served you and hoping that you will come back and visit us again in the nearest future. (B)

Tour Recommend for : TThis tour represents adventure travel at its best, given the daily schedule of soft sports activities in each of the areas visited. Several half day hikes are included therefore we recommend the tour for adults in good physical condition with an interest in adventure travel. Not recommended for small children.

What to bring : We recommend you bring light cotton shorts, long pants, T-shirts, tennis shoes, hiking boots, sandals (flip flops and strap-ons), socks, hat or baseball cap, bathing suite, insect repellent lotion, sun block, binoculars, and other specialized outdoors gear you may want to bring along. Since you will be staying at modest jungle lodges, we do not recommend bringing any jewelry since safe boxes may not be available at every Lodge.

Visa Information:
Please verify all visa requirements for your chosen destination. At the time this page and our useful information page were updated Brazil is the only Latin American country requesting visas to U.S. citizens. For crossing the border from Argentina to the Iguassu Falls in Brazil, a visa is also needed. Chile does not require a visa but they collect a $100 administration fee to enter the country, this must be paid in cash.
